Lana Del Rey is an American singer-songwriter and poet.
Early in her career, she used other aliases: May Jailer, Lana Del Ray, Sparkle Jump Rope Queen and Lizzy Grant.
Raised in upstate New York in the small town of Lake Placid on the Canadian border, she decided to launch into music in 2005. After two unsuccessful albums, Lana Del Rey became famous with her song Video Games in 2011. Her third album, Born to Die, then enjoyed worldwide success.
In 2013, she released a new version of this album with nine new songs, entitled Paradise and starred in her own short film, Tropico. The following year, she released her fourth album, Ultraviolence. The style of the album is oriented towards the rock of the 1960s. A year later, his fifth album, Honeymoon, was published, with references to blues and jazz, as well as to singers with "big voices" or engaged, such as such as Nina Simone, Joan Baez or Billie Holiday.
His sixth album, Lust for Life, released in July 2017, returned to the hip-hop of his beginnings and quickly topped the charts in the United States, receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Norman Fucking Rockwell, his seventh album, released in July 2019, received widespread critical praise and two Grammy Award nominations, including for Album of the Year. The album is more experimental, with songs close to soft rock.
His eighth album, Chemtrails over the Country Club, focused on folk and country folk, was released in March 2021. His next two albums are more relaxed, accompanied by guitar and piano, while retaining references to pop and jazz.
