Ennio Morricone (born November 10, 1928 in Rome) is an Italian composer, musician, producer, arranger and conductor.
He is known worldwide for his film scores for which he is considered one of the best composers.
Between the 1960s and 2020, he composed more than 500 scores for film and television, many of them for his friend Sergio Leone.
Among his best-known music are those made for films:
For a Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, Once Upon a Time in America, Sacco and Vanzetti, The Harvests of Heaven, The Professional, Mission and The Incorruptibles, etc. ....
In 2007, he was awarded an honorary Oscar for his entire career.
Six times nominated for the Oscar for best film music, he won this award only once in 2016 at the age of 87 for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.
Ennio Morricone died on July 6, 2020 in Rome.
