Marc Cerrone, born May 24, 1952 in Vitry-sur-Seine, is a French composer and musician.
He is considered the pillar of disco in France and Belgium.
Marc Cerrone is the son of Italian immigrants who fled fascism. At five years old, he was marked by the separation of his parents, and he and his brothers were then sent to a boarding school. He lives in Vitry-sur-Seine.
For his twelfth birthday, his mother, Liliane Cerrone, gave him his first drum kit to channel him, after he had been kicked out of college. He became a drummer and was influenced by the rhythm and blues of Otis Redding.
During his adolescence, groups or musicians like Chicago, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Santana influenced Cerrone. At the age of 14, he founded his first band and left school.
At the insistence of his father, he nevertheless began studying “hairdressing for the cinema” from which he obtained a diploma with honors.
